Bainbridge Island Man Charged With Felony DUI

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Mar 26, 2014 | 0 Comments

Todd Ryan Duffner, of Bainbridge Island, was charged with a felony DUI after the Washington State Patrol stopped him in Silverdale last week. The 28-year-old was allegedly arrested for his fifth drunk driving offense, reports the Bainbridge Island Review.

The Washington State Patrol reportedly spotted Duffner erratically driving his 1999 Ford Ranger shortly after two in the morning. Duffner was allegedly weaving his pickup truck between the center turn lane and the right lane.

Following the stop, the arresting officer noted that Duffner had bloodshot eyes, was shaking, and had trouble finding his vehicle registration. With those suspicions of intoxication, the officer asked Duffner to undergo field sobriety tests. Duffner also had trouble complying with the instructions for the tests and had trouble maintaining his balance. So the trooper arrested Duffner. It was later discovered that Duffner was currently wanted on a domestic violence charge and had a long history of DUIs dating back to when Duffner was just 19.

In 2005, Duffner was convicted of vehicular assault after he drove drunk and hit a bicyclist in the street, severely injuring the bicyclist. Duffner then made matters worse when he attempted to flee the scene. In 2008, Duffner was also convicted of a felony DUI .

Duffner was taken in for a blood draw to determine his blood alcohol level and was booked in Kitsap County Jail for this most recent felony DUI. He could face up to five years in prison if convicted and may be required to pay a $10,000 fine.
