Dump Truck Driver Arrested for DUI Rollover in Kent

Posted by Aaron J. Wolff | Oct 27, 2013 | 0 Comments

A dump truck driver was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving after causing an accident in Kent, reports the Kent ReporterReporter.

The accident occurred on Highway 18 as the driver veered his dump truck and trailer off the highway into Jenkins Creek. The accident occurred shortly after noon, and the Washington State Patrol believes that the unidentified male driver was under the influence of alcohol.

No one was hurt in the accident and a car behind the truck suffered minimal damage. However, the dump truck may have leaked fuel in the area, prompting authorities to investigate the environmental impact of the crash. In addition, the truck was carrying sand and most of that cargo reportedly fell into the creek.

Drivers of heavy vehicles, vehicles designed to carry numerous passengers, buses, and school buses, may be required to have a commercial license. Given the special considerations of these vehicles, drivers face a much more stringent DUI standard of 0.04 blood alcohol level. This means that a commercial license driver could potentially face criminal drunk driving charges for having only one or two drinks.

In addition to facing criminal charges, a commercial driver convicted of a DUI could also potentially lose his job. For example, if the driver has his license suspended, he would be unable to perform the job. In addition, the employer may fire the employee for drinking and driving.

A DUI conviction can be devastating for individuals whose livelihood depends upon driving. If you face a drunk driving charge in the Seattle or King County areas, you will want to talk to a drunk driving defense attorney to review your possible defenses and options for fighting the charge.
