March 2012 Washington State DUI Statistics

Case load reports for Washington State DUI and Physical Control arrests in March of 2012 were recently posted by Washington State Courts Systems. See Repprt During March, 3033 new DUI and Physical Control charges were filed in the district and municipal courts throughout Washington. The highest number of new DUI or Physical Control charges comes from King County Distrct Court , where there were 358 new filings. Any driver who is arrested for either DUI or Physical Control by a Washington State Patrol Trooper, King County Sheriff's Deputy, Port of Seattle Police Officer or University of Washington Police Officer in King County would have their case filed in one of the three (Seattle, Redmond or Burien) King County District Courts. Many of these new filings actually occurred prior to March of 2012 as the King County Prosecutor's Office typically files DUI or Physical Control charges via investigation anywhere from a few weeks to several months after the arrest date.

Drivers arrested for a Seattle DUI or Physical Control charge by a Seattle Police Officer typically has their case filed within a few business days after their incident. More More Seattle DUI Information In March, there were 139 new Seattle DUI or Physical Control cases filed in the Seattle Municipal Court.. There were a total of 47 Kirkland DUI cases filed in the Kirkland Municipal Court. The data above is for "new " filings. Typically, a DUI case lasts from several weeks to months from when the case is filed until there is a final resolution. Hence, the dispositions of DUI charges in March are primarily for arrests that occurred months prior. In March, there were a total of 1425 DUI or Physical Control convictions. There were a total of 1675 DUI charges amended to a lessor offense (typically Reckless Driving or Negligent Driving First Degree) in March.
